Common mistakes when deciding on Tattoo Designs

When was the last time you looked at a tattoo and went “Whoa!”?

With everybody from teenage girls to moms who want to live on the edge (Yeah, my mom is like that too!) tattoos are fast becoming a staple of American life as tattoo shops pop up all over the place, trying to help potential customers get in, get inked and get out. Yet, very few designs inspire surprise, elegance, beauty and creativity. Why is that? Don’t blame the tattoo gallery, in this article I’ll help you figure it out yourself.

One of the problems is that when most people visit tattoo parlors, they are looking for a particular style that will conform to who they want to be: Badass biker, fairy princess, flaming homo, tribal-tattoo-wearing guy, tramp-stamp-girl, etc.

But that’s entirely the wrong approach! The first step is to stop and think about who you really are. Deep down, look into what qualities you actually have, and how you want your true self to be enhanced by your tattoo. Remember, these designs last a lifetime.

The first key is to look deep inside yourself, and bring out your true personality with your artwork.

With tattoos, you walk a fine line between graceful and campy. One of the biggest causes of campy tattoos are the result of a lack of creativity. If this is how you approach your tattoos, there really is no doubt you will end up with something cliche, uninspiring and bland. Who wants that, am I right? And a lot of the time, when you go into tattoo shops, these guys won’t tell you that you’re making a mistake they need your business and they don’t care about your decision!

You want something new and original, something that will pique people’s curiosity. They will not only want to look at the tattoo, they might even wonder about who YOU are as a human being. You won’t find this in the tattoo gallery. You will find this inside yourself. You are not a carbon copy of anybody else your style, your mannerisms, your life, your looks are all unique. Therefore your tattoo must be unique.

The others key is to expand your horizons and find a work of art that symbolizes something unique, because you are unique.
